A major threat to the diamond industry is the possibility that it will be tarnished by the perceived unethical business practices of some of its stakeholders.  The main areas of concern are non-disclosure of treated or synthetic diamonds and conflict diamonds.

To reassure consumers that they are able to rely with confidence on the ethical standards of the industry, DTC requires that its Sightholders subscribe to a suite of Best Practice Principles.  DTC have established a process of third party verification of compliance by an impartial auditor and hope that other mining companies in the industry will adopt this standard.

Hennig plays a major role in communicating the new requirements to the Sightholders and consulting with DTC on the practical issues faced by clients with implementation.
