Ethical Standards
An industry based on integrity. Protecting people, the environment and diamonds.
It is critical to the diamond trade that consumers are confident that the end product they are buying is ethically sourced and manufactured, and free from undisclosed enhancements or treatments. To reassure consumers, De Beers requires that its Sightholders subscribe to a suite of Best Practice Principles which includes the full disclosure of simulants, synthetics and treated diamonds; that diamonds be from legitimate sources; maintaining the highest industry ethics; compliance with local and international working standards; fair treatment and dignity of individuals and environmental best practice.
De Beers requires its clients to submit annual self-assessments and participate in on-site inspections, audited by an independent third party. We assist our clients with their self-assessment submissions and conduct checks prior to third-party audits. While maintaining the highest standards in all our commercial activities, we also play a role in disseminating new requirements to the Sightholders and consulting with De Beers on the practical issues faced by clients with their implementation.
